​​​Question:  What is special about the HydroPactor vs. conventional compactors?
Answer:  Waste generators realize significant savings by replacing conventional compactors or dumpsters with the HydroPactor. The HydroPactor 1) removes water contained in waste and 2) possesses a much greater compaction rate than that of conventional compacters.  The reduction of water reduces the weight and thus disposal tonnage costs while the greater compaction rate results in reduced pick-ups (i.e. tipping fees).

Question:  Does the HydroPactor integrate into my existing waste management process?
Answer:  The HydroPactor works the same as any conventional compactor and readily integrates into existing waste management processes and can be tailored to any logistical situation.

Question:  What are the HydroPactor’s dimensions?
Answer:  In total, the HydroPactor is a little narrower than conventional compactors but about the same length (23’) as a 34-Cubic Yard self-contained compactor.  The HydroPactor includes a 20-Cubic Yard container that can accommodate up to 14.5 tons of waste, in order to comply with regulatory weight limits.  The container can be hauled by any truck that customarily moves self-contained compactors or stationary compactor containers.  While the HydroPactor’s compacting unit has a little longer length, this extra length is neutralized by its shorter container length.

Question:  Is the HydroPactor considered a Self-Contained or Stationary Compactor?
Answer:  The HydroPactor is a Stationary Compactor.  A self-contained compactor is designed for wet waste, whereby the entire system is removed by the hauler, leaving no compactor in place during the pick-up, tipping, and return period.  A stationary compactor is designed for dry waste and as such has a container attached to it, which is removed during tipping while the compactor remains behind (i.e. is stationary).  Because the HydroPactor removes a substantial amount of water from the waste stream and leaves behind a dry waste “brick”, it operates in a manner similar to that of a stationary compactor.

Question:  Where does the compaction process occur?
Answer:  While the compaction stage of conventional compactors occurs in the container or breakaway box, the HydroPactor’s compaction process occurs within the HydroPactor itself.

Question:  What happens to the water that is removed?
Answer:  The HydroPactor evaporates the removed water into the atmosphere in the form of water vapor (not via steam generation).  MSW Power Corporation has received letters from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection exempting the HydroPactor from Solid Waste and Air Quality permitting stating that the HydroPactor is regulated, as is any conventional compactor.  Copies of these letters are available upon request.

Question:  What happens to the solids that are separated with the liquids?
Answer:  The HydroPactor’s evaporation system has internal screens that are mechanically scraped.  These scrapings are returned to the compression nozzle when dry for delivery to the container.

Question:  What are the HydroPactor’s power requirements?
Answer:  The HydroPactor requires 480V 3-Phase power with a 30 Amp Breaker.

Question:  All of the equipment associated with our waste removal is owned by our hauler and rented to us.  Is this an issue?
Answer:  That is the case with most waste generators.  If you wish to rent a HydroPactor, we will work with your hauler to purchase or lease the HydroPactor from us and in return, your hauler will rent it to you as they currently do.

Question:  What is the Purchase Price?

Answer:   The HydroPactor sells for $40,000.

Question:  What is the Payback or ROI of the HydroPactor?
Answer:  You may enter your waste data on a form found on our website and immediately see your payback and ROI.

Question:  How much does it cost to operate and maintain the HydroPactor?
Answer:  It costs about the same as a conventional compactor other than the nominal electrical differential mentioned above and filter replacement, that latter of which we estimate will cost $12 annually.

Question:  Does the HydroPactor emit any odors?
Answer:  No.  The HydroPactor contains granular activated carbon filters for odor control.

Question:  Does the HydroPactor leak any fluids?
Answer:  No.  Because the HydroPactor removes a substantial amount of water from the waste stream and this water is evaporated into the atmosphere as water vapor, it leaves behind a dry waste “brick”.

Question:  How noisy is the HydroPactor?
Answer:  The HydroPactor operates at no more than 65db.

Question:  How does the HydroPactor benefit me if I have a flat fee or fixed-price contract with my Hauler?

Answer:  In this case, the HydroPactor will not provide a direct cost savings to you.  However, if you’re considering a HydroPactor, we would encourage you to re-negotiate your agreement to a per tonnage rate with your hauler in order to realize the significant savings derived from the HydroPactor.Type your paragraph here.
